DTN COMMENTS: The country is quiet today following yesterday's moderate to
active trade. Best early guesses are that Nebraska moved around 25,000-
28,000 head, with a dressed range of 205.00-206.00, mostly 206.00, generally
$4.00 lower than last week's weighted average. Kansas traded a little over
20,000 head with a live range of 132.00-133.00, generally $3.00 lower. Texas
moved about 2,000 head at 133.00-134.00, mostly 133.00, $3.00 lower. While
we may see a little cleanup trade today, it is looking like business is
essentially done for the week. Asking prices on the few cattle that are left
on lists are around 136.00 in the South, and 210.00 in the North. Beef
cutouts are expected to be mixed with light to moderate box movement.
